Another well-known TV personality is calling it quits. After several decades in front of the camera, Regis Philbin announced Tuesday — this will be his last season co-hosting his popular morning show. The 79-year-old day time talk show host made the announcement at the start of Tuesday morning’s “Live with Regis and Kelly,” which he has hosted for more than a
quarter-century – previously with Kathy Lee Gifford. Regis will step down around the end of the summer. Meanwhile, the talk is already turning to who may replace him. Potential contenders include Survivor host Jeff Probst, Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos,
Regis Philbin says he’s finally ready to give up his talk show gig … after 28 years on the morning shift. 79-year-old Philbin made the announcement this morning on “Live with Regis and Kelly.”
Regis said he’ll tape his last show towards the end of the summer — but he didn’t give a specific date.
During his announcement, Regis joked, “There is a time that everything must come to an end for certain people on camera, especially certain old people.” After 40 years in the business, ‘Live With Regis and Kelly’ host Regis Philbin is retiring from morning television. The 79-year-old host announced the news on
Tuesday’s episode of his hit show, stating that he will leave the program sometime in late summer, although his exact end date has not been specified.
“I don’t want to alarm anybody, but this will be my last year on the show,” he said, igniting a chorus of groans from audience members.
